Plant Technicians

They are not just plant waterers.

The skills our plant technicians at Interior Gardens possess can be best described as a well-developed gift.  Over the years they have cultivated an understanding how to read plants not only by what they observe, but also what they don’t see.

Upon arrival, the experienced plant technician notes facility changes.  These subtleties can affect the health of indoor plants.

  • Changes in outdoor weather that may affect the indoor climate

  • Extremes in temperature and natural light

  • Window shade, curtain settings, and amount of artificial light

  • Plant location i.e. shoved against wall, too close to window

These factors play into the amount of water a plant will need.

Then they look at the individual plant.

  • Position– is it drooping, leaning, or losing excessive leaves

  • Cleanliness and/or evidence of disease of any kind

  • Checking soil for quality and moisture level

Every visit the technician will

  • Water and fertilize the plant as needed

  • Rotate plant a quarter turn to keep its growth symmetrical

  • Relocate or periodically change location for better lighting

  • Dust spray or clean a section of the plant to keep foliage healthy

  • Clean spills and dirt accumulation from the exterior pot

  • Fluff staging that keeps interior pot covered and looking aesthetically pleasing

  • Clean floor surrounding plant where spent leaves, blossoms, and plant debris collect

OH..and don’t forget all the plant consulting they do when asked for advice along the way!

Other seasonal duties include

  • Pruning plants to promote new healthy growth, symmetrically shape and keep plants proportional to their environment.

  • Detecting and troubleshoot any signs of plant stress

  • Suggesting timely replacements

  • Keeping those holiday poinsettias looking great to the new year

These assessments happen in a split second while the technician moves efficiently from plant to plant within a facility.  All this to provide the best plant environment for a healthy indoor life.

We take our plant watering seriously!
